COUNSELLOR PANEL

South Dublin County Partnership is a Local Development Company that
develops projects and services to support sustainable and vibrant
communities, where people realise their potential and experience a
high quality of life. The focus of our activities is on areas where
people experience disadvantage. Funding for our work comes from a
variety of sources; our main funders are the Department of Community,
Environment and Local Government and the Department of Social
Protection. South Dublin County Partnership is an equal opportunities

South Dublin County Partnership provides a free, accessible
counselling service for people who are socially disadvantaged. Due to
the growing demand for our counselling service, we are establishing a
panel of suitably qualified counsellors to support the delivery of
counselling.

* We require bi-lingual counsellors who have English and one of the
following languages: Ukrainian, Russian.
* We would also welcome suitably qualified applicants who have
experience or would be willing to work with translators to provide
counselling.
* We would welcome suitably qualified applicants who have experience
working with disadvantaged cohorts.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The successful candidate will have:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

* Accredited member of the I.A.C.P, I.A.H.I.P, or relevant body
within the I.C.P. or the ability to register with the aforementioned.
* Minimum of?three years relevant, supervised experience in
counseling since accreditation, with a minimum of one of these years
including experience of working with trauma.
* Front-line experience delivering counselling to a vulnerable
cohort.

KNOWLEDGE:

* A knowledge of complex, acute, and chronic trauma.
* A knowledge of the impact of trauma on a person's physical,
emotional, and psychological development.
* A knowledge of the complexities faced in delivering services to
service users in challenging environments.
* An understanding of contemporary issues such as homelessness,
poverty, substance misuse, immigration, refugee status.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Proven experience of working effectively in a team environment and
in an individual capacity.
* Experience of using good interpersonal skills (written and oral)
across a diverse and wide range of audiences.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Good IT skills and experience in report writing, progress reports
and annual reports.
* Demonstrate empathy and have a clear understanding of trauma and
PTSD.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour and issues.
* Ability to intervene and respond to crises.
* High motivation and enthusiasm with the ability to self-sustain.
* Excellent relationship building skills.
* Ability to work with individuals and with groups as required.
* Provide assessments, therapeutic interventions, and psychosocial
support as appropriate and in line with best practice guidance for the
delivery of counselling.
* Referral to appropriate services for progression both internally
or externally as deemed necessary.
* Ability to maintain and upkeep confidential files and records in
line with professional standards required by the appointee?s
accrediting organisation and in line with GDPR.
